Authorities in Florida charged the 20-year-old and two other individuals with the unlawful discharge of a firearm within a protected wildlife sanctuary on March 26. The charges stem from a livestreamed video that appeared to show multiple gunshots being fired into the water from an airboat.

Legal representatives for Peters have stated that he was acting under the guidance of a licensed airboat operator during the excursion. The defense maintains that no animals or people were injured during the event.
