The incident, which occurred Tuesday morning, was triggered by the rupture of a massive tank containing white liquor—a highly corrosive alkaline substance essential to the paper-manufacturing process. Emergency crews were immediately dispatched to the scene, located approximately 130 miles south of Seattle, to manage the aftermath and search for those unaccounted for.

Initial reports indicate that the scale of the chemical spill was significant, with officials estimating the ruptured tank held roughly 900,000 gallons of hazardous material. The instability of the damaged structure has complicated recovery efforts, forcing emergency responders to prioritize site reinforcement before proceeding with further search operations.
