Oura has officially introduced the fifth generation of its flagship smart ring, marking a significant shift toward a more compact and refined aesthetic. The new device is 40% smaller than its predecessor, featuring a design that is approximately two millimeters narrower and 30% thinner. By completely re-engineering the internal mechanical, electrical, and optical components, the company aims to provide a wearable that feels more like traditional jewelry while offering improved battery life, which now spans six to nine days on a single charge.

The Ring 5 is set to begin shipping on June 4, with preorders opening immediately. Pricing starts at $399 for the Black and Silver models, while premium finishes—including a redesigned Gold, Deep Rose, Brushed Silver, and Stealth—are priced at $499. This accelerated release cycle, coming only 18 months after the previous iteration, reflects the company’s response to an increasingly crowded market of smart ring manufacturers, as it seeks to maintain its position as a leader in health-tracking technology.

Beyond the hardware, Oura is rolling out a suite of advanced software features designed to provide deeper health insights. The new “Health Radar” system introduces Blood Pressure Signals, which monitors cardiovascular patterns during sleep, and Nighttime Breathing tracking to help users identify potential health disturbances. Furthermore, the company is expanding its ecosystem by partnering with Counsel Health to offer on-demand medical advice directly through the app, alongside new tools for live activity tracking, GLP-1 medication monitoring, and a specialized study focused on long-term brain health.

These updates are intended to move the platform from a passive tracking tool to a more proactive health companion. By allowing users to import medical records and connect third-party heart-rate monitors, the company is positioning its latest hardware as a central hub for personal wellness. While the new features will be available to users of the Gen3 and later models, the Ring 5 serves as the primary showcase for these enhanced sensing capabilities and the company’s commitment to a more discreet, user-friendly form factor.
