reMarkable Returns to Minimalist Roots with New Paper Pure Monochrome Tablet
reMarkable is doubling down on its core philosophy of distraction-free writing with the debut of the Paper Pure. This new monochrome tablet marks a strategic pivot back to the company’s minimalist origins following recent explorations into color displays. Positioned as the successor to the long-standing reMarkable 2, the Paper Pure is designed to mimic the tactile experience of physical paper while offering modern digital conveniences.
The hardware offers significant refinements over its predecessor. While maintaining a 10.3-inch screen, the Paper Pure features a slightly wider design and a lighter build, weighing in at just 360 grams. Users will also benefit from a substantial boost in internal capacity, with 32GB of storage providing four times the space of the previous generation. Powering the device is a 3,820 mAh battery, which promises 30% more longevity, alongside a 50% increase in responsiveness for a more fluid note-taking experience.
To enhance professional utility, the device introduces several software-driven workflow improvements. New integrations allow for seamless connectivity with productivity tools like Miro and Slack, alongside synchronized calendar access and improved handwriting search capabilities. Furthermore, the tablet can now automatically convert cloud-based documents into annotated digital notebooks, streamlining the transition from digital files to handwritten notes.
The Paper Pure is priced at $399, with a premium bundle available for $449 that includes a protective folio and the Marker Plus stylus, which features a built-in eraser. While the company prepares to phase out the reMarkable 2, it has committed to providing continued software support for current owners. Shipments for the new device are expected to commence in early June.
