Body Believed to Be Fugitive Australian Shooter Found in New South Wales
A body discovered in a remote area of New South Wales is strongly believed to be that of Julian Ingram, a man sought in connection with the January murders of three individuals in the small town of Lake Cargelligo. Ingram was reportedly out on bail for domestic violence offenses at the time of the killings, which claimed the lives of his pregnant ex-partner, Sophie Quinn, her friend, and her aunt.
Law enforcement officials announced on Monday that a male body, presumed to be Ingram, was found near an abandoned utility vehicle approximately 50 kilometers northwest of where the tragic events unfolded. The discovery was made by wildlife officers conducting pest eradication efforts. Authorities stated that the body appears to have been at the location for a significant period, and Ingram was last seen on January 22.
Assistant Commissioner Andrew Holland confirmed that the vehicle found at the scene matches the description of the one driven by Ingram. “We believe that the identification at the scene, the clothing that the deceased is wearing, would lead us to believe that it is him,” Holland stated, indicating that further forensic analysis will confirm the identity. The initial reports suggest Ingram allegedly shot and killed his former partner, who was reportedly seven months pregnant and expecting a child in March, along with her two companions.
The violence also resulted in serious injuries to a 19-year-old man, who has since been released from medical care. Following the shootings, an extensive manhunt involving around 100 officers was initiated for Ingram. Holland had previously noted Ingram’s deep familiarity with the local area, suggesting he could evade detection for an extended time. The discovery of the suspected body is expected to bring a sense of closure to the community and conclude the active investigation.
