Cheney Woman Charged Following Pursuit of Cyclist on Pedestrian Path
A 56-year-old woman is facing multiple criminal charges after a disturbing incident in Cheney, where she allegedly used her vehicle to target a young cyclist. Surveillance cameras recorded the woman, identified as Wendy Clemente, driving her car onto a designated pedestrian footpath and actively pursuing a child riding a bicycle. The child narrowly avoided being struck by maneuvering ahead of the vehicle, though the driver continued to follow him along the path before eventually returning to the road and fleeing the area.
Although the young victim escaped the encounter without physical harm, the incident has had a profound emotional impact. Jennifer Taylor, the mother of the victim, stated that her son was left deeply traumatized by the event, fearing for his life as the vehicle bore down on him. The incident, which took place in April, has caused significant alarm among local residents who frequently utilize the city’s pedestrian pathways.
Law enforcement officials have since taken Clemente into custody. She is currently facing serious legal consequences, including charges of assault and driving under the influence.
