Ex-Bose Sleep Expert Launches SOND with $7M to Revolutionize Rest via AI-Powered Earbuds
Boston-based startup SOND has officially emerged from stealth mode, announcing $7 million in new funding to develop its innovative sleep technology. Led by former Bose Head of Global Sleep, Yadid Ayzenberg, the company is introducing Dreambuds, a sophisticated in-ear system designed to do more than just mask ambient noise. Unlike traditional sleep earbuds, Dreambuds utilize a closed-loop system to actively intervene and improve sleep quality through real-time physiological monitoring.
The technology relies on tracking 12 distinct biological signals, including heart rate variability, respiration, and body position. This data is processed by a cloud-based AI sleep coach that can generate or select specific audio programs to help users rest more effectively. A key differentiator is the system’s autonomy; the Dreambuds charging case features its own Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and OLED display, allowing users to manage their sleep settings without needing to interact with a smartphone—a design choice intended to minimize digital distractions during rest.
The founding team brings significant industry expertise to the venture. CEO Yadid Ayzenberg previously spearheaded Bose’s sleep product portfolio, while CTO Amir Lazarovich joins from a senior engineering role at Google. The duo, who met during their time at MIT, aim to provide personalized sleep insights through a companion app and a proprietary library of over 500 audio programs.
The $7 million investment round included participation from the E14 Fund, Crosslink Capital, Ubiquity Ventures, Alumni Ventures, and Meach Cove Capital, as well as Boston Scientific co-founder John Abele. SOND plans to move toward mass production by the second quarter of 2026, following an upcoming crowdfunding campaign.
