A tragic building collapse in Angeles, Philippines, has resulted in at least one confirmed fatality and left an estimated 20 people trapped beneath the wreckage. The incident occurred early Sunday morning when a nine-storey structure, which was still under active construction, suddenly gave way. Emergency responders have been working around the clock to navigate the mangled heap of concrete and scaffolding that spilled onto the surrounding streets.

Rescue operations have successfully pulled 24 individuals from the primary site, with an additional two people recovered from a nearby hotel that sustained significant damage from falling debris. Among the victims was a 65-year-old Malaysian man who had been staying in the adjacent hotel. Despite initial efforts to communicate with rescuers via mobile phone while pinned under a wall, he was pronounced dead upon recovery. Officials believe many of those still missing are construction workers who were unable to evacuate the site when the structure failed.
