NASA Wallops to Host Public Forum on Infrastructure and Environmental Health
NASA is welcoming the public to an upcoming community engagement session at the Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia. The event is set for Wednesday, May 13, running from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the facility’s Visitor Center. The session is designed to foster transparency, offering residents a direct look at the agency’s current site operations and environmental stewardship initiatives.
During the event, attendees can visit interactive booths to learn about major infrastructure projects, such as the ongoing construction of the causeway bridge and local beach replenishment efforts. Representatives from the GLOBE program will also be on-site to highlight their educational outreach and environmental monitoring work, providing a comprehensive overview of how the facility interacts with the surrounding region.
In addition to operational updates, the session will serve as a platform to address public health concerns. Health experts from federal and state agencies are slated to attend, aiming to provide clarity on the recently released health consultation report regarding PFAS. This discussion is intended to answer community questions and explain the findings regarding environmental safety at the site. The Visitor Center is located on Virginia Route 175, easily accessible for those traveling from U.S. Route 13 or the Chincoteague area.
