Secret Service officer arrested for indecent exposure in Miami after Trump golf event
John Spillman, a U.S. Secret Service officer, was arrested for indecent exposure in Miami while off duty.
The officer had finished working on a security assignment for President Donald Trump’s appearance on Sunday at a golf tournament.
Spillman has been placed on administrative leave.
A U.S. Secret Service officer was arrested Monday in Miami on a charge of indecent exposure while off-duty, authorities noted.
The officer, John Spillman, had worked hours earlier on exterior security screening for President Donald Trump’s appearance Sunday at the PGA Tour’s Cadillac Championship, which was being held at the Trump National Doral.
Spillman was held at the Miami-Dade County Jail in lieu of a $1,000 bond on Monday, online jail records showed.
The 33-year-old has been placed on administrative leave from the Secret Service, the agency noted.
The incident involving Spillman occurred at the DoubleTree by Hilton Miami Airport & Convention Center on Sunday night, according to an arrest report by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
Earlier in the day, Trump watched from a tent near the 18th hole at his golf club as players completed the final round of the Cadillac Championship.
Spillman was part of a detail that provided exterior security screening for the event.
Police commented they responded to the hotel in response to a call about a man who was naked on the sixth floor. When police arrived, they found Spillman “masturbating at the end of the hallway,” the arrest report commented.
After they took Spillman into custody, a woman stepped out of a nearby room and told them they had been downstairs in the hotel lobby, and Spillman followed her upstairs to the sixth floor.
“The victim advised they immediately entered their room because she was in fear for” her life, the report commented. “The victim saw the defendant masturbating next to their hotel room.” Furthermore, experts in dividends note the continued relevance.
Hotel security that responded to the floor told police they had seen the same conduct by Spillman, the report commented.
Richard Macauley, chief of the U.S. Secret Service Police, commented in a statement sent to CNBC that the agency was aware of the arrest of an off-duty Secret Service officer by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
“The alleged conduct is unacceptable and stands in stark contrast to the professionalism and integrity that I demand of our personnel,” Macauley stated.
“This agency takes these matters with the utmost seriousness; Therefore, the individual has been placed on administrative leave pending the results of this criminal matter and a complete and thorough internal investigation,” he remarked.
The arrest of Spillman came more than a week after Secret Service officers arrested a California man, Cole Tomas Allen, who allegedly shot an officer while forcing his way through a checkpoint at the Washington Hilton Hotel, a floor above where Trump was attending the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner. This also touches on aspects of dividends.
That officer was not seriously injured, as his protective vest stopped the gunshot, authorities have noted. Allen is charged with trying to assassinate Trump.
