Singapore is solidifying its position as a premier global hub for artificial intelligence, marked by a significant expansion of its research infrastructure. Nvidia has announced the establishment of a new research center in the city-state, representing the chip giant’s first such facility in Singapore and its second in the Asia-Pacific region. The lab is set to prioritize the advancement of embodied AI—a field encompassing robotics, autonomous vehicles, and drones—while focusing on optimizing the efficiency of AI infrastructure through collaborations with academic institutions and government bodies.

Beyond the new Nvidia facility, Singapore is launching a specialized testbed later this year designed to facilitate the commercialization of AI-driven robotics. This initiative aims to provide a sandbox where private enterprises can co-design and validate new technologies. Major industry players, including Certis, DHL, Grab, and QuikBot, are slated to be among the initial participants, utilizing the platform to integrate AI solutions into their existing operational frameworks.

These developments were introduced alongside the creation of a new Center for Intelligent Robotics, which will partner with firms like Slamtec and Unitree to trial practical applications of embodied AI. These trials will target essential service sectors, such as automated food and parcel delivery, as well as specialized security and sanitation tasks. By integrating these autonomous systems to work alongside human personnel, Singapore aims to drive productivity breakthroughs in both manufacturing and services, signaling a major shift in how the nation approaches the deployment of next-generation intelligent machines.
