A 21-year-old Austrian man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for orchestrating a terrorist plot targeting Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concerts in Vienna. The individual, identified in court documents as Beran A, was convicted of multiple terrorism-related charges after authorities uncovered his plans to carry out an attack at the Ernst Happel Stadium in August 2024. The plot was thwarted following an intelligence tip-off, leading to the cancellation of three sold-out shows and impacting nearly 200,000 concertgoers.

During the trial in Wiener Neustadt, prosecutors detailed how the defendant had become radicalized and pledged allegiance to the Islamic State. Evidence presented in court indicated that the man had actively attempted to procure illegal weaponry, including grenades and machine guns, to execute his plan. A court-appointed psychiatrist testified that the defendant showed no signs of mental illness, noting that there was no clinical explanation for his radicalization. In a separate ruling, a 21-year-old accomplice from Slovakia, Arda K, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for his involvement in a jihadist cell, though he was not directly linked to the concert plot.
